Exclusively water of falda
For its production sites, INALCA does not use water from surface sources, but exclusively groundwater, which offers greater guarantees in terms of quality. Over 90% of water supplies are also managed directly by INALCA, both for the groundwater extraction phase and for the distribution, use and purification phase. The integrated cycle managed entirely by Inalca ensures waste-free management “. Water discharges also have a chemical-physical composition that makes them easily purifiable, given a balanced ratio between the so-called Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD). In view of the “food” nature of the production processes, there are no substances in waste water which are particularly dangerous to the environment, such as heavy metals for example.
Modern depuration plants
The main INALCA plants are equipped with modern purification plants that ensure extremely high purification yields. Furthermore, INALCA has long set more restrictive discharge limits for the Castelvetro di Modena and Ospedaletto Lodigiano plants than those required by the plants’ environmental permits. Where industry regulations permit, INALCA initiates the recovery of purified process water. Over the past three years, INALCA has begun recovering an average of approximately 90,000 mc/year of purified water. In 2024, the indicator was maintained, and the company’s goal is to maintain these levels consistently over time.
